Hydro Testing

Hydro Testing, also known as Hydro-Testing, is used to check the strength of the vessels/ products being tested as well as if there are any leaks in the same. In this the object is placed tightly closing all open ends and then water is passed in it at a specific speed, quantity and time. If during the test there are no leaks or breaks found, the product is certified to be cleared in hydro-test.

Coating

Pipe coating is the application of a protective layer to a pipe's surface to prevent corrosion and extend its lifespan, which also improves flow capacity and reduces energy use. Common methods include external coatings like polyethylene (PE) and fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE), and internal coatings such as epoxies and specialized paints.

Types of pipe coatings

1. External coatings:

- Three-layer polyethylene (3LPE): These are common for external protection and consist of a corrosion-resistant FBE primer, an adhesive tie layer, and a final polyolefin (PE or PP) layer for mechanical strength and protection.

- Glass flake coatings: These are ideal for harsh chemical environments and have high resistance to abrasion and erosion.

2. Internal coatings:

- Epoxy coatings: Applied to prevent corrosion from internal fluids and are used in gas, water, and oil transmission lines.
